Things you should never say to someone on their wedding day unless they are a really good friend: “I had a nightmare last night that you picked the most ugly dress!” Luckily, Katie was as equally amused as I was and laughed when I told her. I mean, it was obvious that nothing could be further from the truth! Katie and Drew’s wedding at the German Society of Pennsylvania reflected their love for each other, their love for music (they are even in a band together!), and their love for a really good time. They had a unique ceremony in the library where they each drew portraits of each other without looking at the paper, a tradition they started when they first started dating. And there were a few surprises during the reception! First, instead of a traditional toast, Katie’s sister sang a rendition of “What I Like About Drew” (to the tune of “What I Like About You”) that had everyone roaring. A bit later in the night, Katie and Drew had a little surprise of their own. Yes, they performed a song at their own wedding! I have to give Katie huge props for going for it even though her voice was all but gone by then. For the rest of the reception, the party band Swift Technique kept the dance floor bouncing with their funky, brassy, style. I would like to personally thank the band for all the Talking Heads covers. Definitely the best dance party I photographed all year! Congrats, Katie + Drew! I’m so happy you’re married!
